My story: A holiday miracle with paws

A true holiday miracle happened recently. About a month or two ago, we lost one of our beloved dogs. My son, wanting to bring some happiness back into our home, sent me a picture of a cute Rottweiler

available for adoption at Indianapolis Animal Care Services. Without much thought, I agreed.

However, when I arrived home, I discovered that this Rottweiler was the size of a small horse! To give you some perspective, see the photo of Jeff, as my son named him, next to our other Rottweiler. Don’t get me wrong, Jeff was great, but waking up to a 160-pound Rott standing on your face every morning is quite the experience.

Realizing he was a bit too much for us to handle, we decided to put up an ad to find him a loving home. Almost immediately, we received a response from a gentleman who claimed to have experience with big dogs and was interested in meeting Jeff. Despite my warnings about Jeff's size, he remained confident.

The gentleman arrived at our house, and as soon as I opened the door, Jeff went absolutely nuts over him. To my surprise, the man started bonding with Jeff, repeatedly saying, “This is my dog! This is my dog!” Suddenly, I noticed tears in his eyes, and it clicked. I asked him, “Wait a second, is this your dog?”

He pulled out his phone and showed me pictures of Jeff, his lost dog from over a year ago. It was an incredibly emotional moment, and I could hardly believe it.

We’re so thrilled that Jeff has reunited with his original owner, and it feels like it was all meant to be. Jeff, whose real name is Oso (meaning Bear), is now microchipped and back at his real home, safe and sound. This was a heartwarming holiday miracle, indeed.
