Spring has arrived, and with it comes kitten season, a time when many kittens are born and need care.
Dawn Benefiel, executive director of Indy Neighborhood Cats.said that kittens are born throughout the year. This leads to an increase in sightings of stray cats and kittens, especially in urban areas like Indianapolis.
When people find kittens alone, they often assume the mother has abandoned them. However, Benefiel explains that mother cats typically stay away from their kittens to avoid attracting predators. They return periodically to feed and care for them.
